Frequently Asked Questions
What kinds of repairs can a mobile mechanic perform?
We perform a wide range of maintenance, diagnostics, and repairs outside of the typical shop setting. Common services include brake repairs, batteries, starters, alternators, suspension, steering, wheel bearings, CV axles, fluid changes and flushes, tune-ups, check engine light diagnostics, and many other repairs. If you’re unsure whether your repair can be completed onsite, please contact us, and we’ll be happy to discuss it.
Where can Auto Onsite work on my vehicle?
We can service your vehicle anywhere it’s safe and legal to work, including your home, workplace, parking lot, or other approved location.
Do you charge a travel or service-call fee?
Yes, a minimum of (1) hour of labor is billed in addition to $1 for every mile traveled to reach your location from our standby location in the 25427 zip code. If the issue is diagnosed within that first hour, it will be applied towards any remaining labor necessary to complete the job.
How do I schedule an appointment?
Simply click on the Request Service button at the top of this page and follow the prompts. We are also available via call, text, email, Facebook, or Instagram.
Can you diagnose a vehicle that will not start?
Yes, we regularly diagnose vehicles that won’t start, crank, or run properly. In many cases the issue can be diagnosed and repaired onsite. If the problem requires specialized shop equipment or major repairs that can’t safely be completed in the field, we’ll explain your options and recommend the best next step.
Do I provide the parts, or does Auto Onsite?
In most instances, we highly discourage customers from supplying their own parts. Auto Onsite sources quality replacement parts that are covered by a manufacturer’s warranty and further protected by our own labor warranty. Please note that labor performed using customer-supplied parts is NOT warrantied by Auto Onsite, and the manufacturer’s warranty will depend on the part and brand in question. We do reserve the right to refuse installation of customer supplied parts in the event they are determined to be damaged, incorrect, or otherwise unsafe. In this instance, the customer would be billed the time and mileage for us to retrieve the correct parts should they choose to proceed with the repair.
What happens if the repair cannot be completed onsite?
While most repairs can be completed wherever your vehicle is located, some jobs require equipment that is only available in a repair shop. If that happens, we’ll explain why, discuss your options, and help you determine the best course of action. You’ll never be left wondering what comes next.
What areas do you serve?
Auto Onsite LLC proudly serves customers throughout Berkeley, Jefferson, and Morgan Counties in West Virginia, with additional service available in surrounding areas depending on location and scheduling. Service area expansion into Virginia and Maryland is currently in the works. If you’re unsure whether you’re within our service area, just contact us – we’re happy to work with you.
Are you insured?
Yes, we are fully insured and licensed to do business in West Virginia. We take every precaution to protect both your vehicle and your property while work is being performed. If you have questions about our coverage, we’re happy to discuss it before your appointment.
What forms of payment do you accept?
We accept all major credit and debit cards, digital wallet payments, and other secure electronic payment methods. We often request a non-refundable parts deposit ahead of work being performed. The amount of this deposit is dependent on the service being performed. The remaining balance on the invoice is due upon completion of services unless other arrangements have been made in advance. As always, please reach out if you have further questions.
Do you offer a warranty?
Yes. We stand behind our workmanship and are committed to doing the job right the first time. Our labor is backed by a workmanship warranty of 12 months/12k miles. Please see our Warranty Policy for complete terms, exclusions, and coverage details.
What vehicles do you work on?
We service most domestic and imported passenger cars, SUVs, light-duty trucks, and vans. In the unlikely event your vehicle requires resources that cannot be transported to your location, we’ll let you know before scheduling.
If you’re unsure whether we can service your vehicle, simply contact us with the vehicle specifications.
What if additional repairs are needed after the diagnosis?
Sometimes additional issues are discovered once a repair has begun or components have been removed for diagnostics or inspection. If this happens we will explain our findings, provide an updated estimate whenever possible, and obtain your approval before performing any additional work. We will never perform unauthorized repairs or charge for work you did not approve. Our goal is complete transparency throughout the repair process.
Can I stay with my vehicle while it’s being repaired?
Absolutely. You’re welcome to remain nearby while work is being performed. For safety reasons, however, we may ask that customers maintain a safe distance from the work area and keep children and pets away from tools and equipment.
Do you perform emergency or same-day repairs?
Whenever our schedule allows, we do our best to accommodate same-day and urgent repair requests. Availability depends on previously scheduled appointments, your location, and the parts required for the repair. Contact us as soon as possible and we’ll let you know the earliest available appointment.
What if my vehicle needs parts?
If replacement parts are required, we’ll discuss your options before ordering anything. We can often obtain quality parts from local suppliers the same day, helping get your vehicle back on the road quickly. If the vehicle repair is not urgent, we can often find an even better price ordering online. We’ll let you know beforehand if there are any limitations or warranty considerations.
Do you offer emergency roadside assistance?
For our safety and yours, we do not offer roadside assistance, nor do we offer towing services. Never hesitate to call, however, as we can assist you in moving your vehicle somewhere safe.
How long will my repair take?
Repair times vary depending on your vehicle, the type of repair, the condition of the components being services, and many other factors. During scheduling, we’ll provide an estimated labor time whenever possible. The labor cost of the repair will be based on this estimated time.
What if I need to cancel or reschedule?
We completely understand that plans change. We only ask that you provide as much notice as possible if you need to cancel, reschedule, or otherwise change your appointment. This helps us accommodate other customers and keep our schedule running efficiently.
